Bean, Thomas E. (Thomas Ebenezer), 1844-1931.

Thomas E. Bean was an amateur entomologist and collector specializing in Lepidoptera. He collected specimens of butterflies and moths and their eggs, and experimented with breeding specimens from eggs and raising caterpillars. Bean also collected other types of insects, including Orthoptera, Odonata and beetles, as well as spiders and shells (Mollusks), both for his own collection and others'.

Bean spent most of his life in Galena, Ill. He lived in St. Louis, Mo., from Oct. 1878 to Feb. 1879, then moved to McLean, Sask., in 1885 and to Laggan, Alta., in 1886, where he did his most important collecting. He returned to Galena in 1896.
